About this blog

Eating ramen and frozen pizza is what I used to eat in my freshman year. I did not know how to budget, it was depressing eating the same cheap meal for a year. For this blog, I want to provide ways for college students to get some great deals and savings while eating “out”. Giving locations to the best restaurants that serve great food and easy on their wallet. Food is soulful and everyone should enjoy and have fun what they are eating.

I enjoy trying new restaurants, it is exciting to go into a new atmosphere and try their food that makes them distinct from others. I have an extended international taste palette, consuming plenty international cuisines ranging from Peru to West African. From a perspective of a broke college student with an appreciation of the culinary arts and food culture, I want to provide helpful information to enjoy quality food while being on a budget.

There are deals and discounts that are not always at a supermarket, these can be at restaurants or an eatery. For example, China House is a Chinese restaurant in South Bend, IN. It is an affordable place that offers a discount for local college students.

There are plenty of locations that give discounts for college students. It does not have to be from a store but a relaxing environment where you can sit and enjoy a good meal with other colleagues. We associate ramen with what a college student eats. This shouldn’t be it, there are ways to enjoy food on a budget and this blog wants to break that ramen eating narrative.

  1. Struggling to find affordable food that is still of good quality can be very challenging. Throughout my years in college, spending too much money on food has been a problem. For a long time I didn't know we could use our school IDs to get discounts, it's very handy! I am excited to hear about different local restaurants that are affordable for college students. I will definitely be trying them out.

  2. As someone who loves going out to eat, I really look forward to seeing what you have to share. I always find myself going to the same restaurants over and over, so this blog seems like something I would enjoy, and encourage me and expose me to new restaurants in the area. And of course going to affordable restaurants as all I do, and finding new places that are affordable is sometimes a struggle, so a blog like yours will be helpful for everyone. Local businesses could also benefit from your exposure and praise!

  3. I also enjoy food and tend to eat whatever I can get my hands on. I love trying new restaurants and foods as well. I enjoy trying foods of different cultures because it allows an inside look at what their culture may be like. As a fellow broke college student that loves her food, I will enjoy reading about what you have to offer!

  4. I am excited to see what you are trying! I love to find new places that I can feed my family on a budget without eating nonsense (like ramen). If you are ever in the Elkhart area, check out Bacon Hill Kitchen and Pub or Pizo and Foz. They are right next door to one another and have GREAT options. So much bang for your buck!
