Aesthetic of the Day!

Quick paced, warm aromas, and blazing colors stick out in fast-paced cities. Street food can sometimes be seen as fast-food or junk-food. But there is something special seeing your food being made, it is simplistic and authentic. This brings in memories when I took a trip to Mexico and most every corner had a vendor. Getting some quick steak Tacos fresh out of the grill, to getting a cup of warm Menudo at night. Street food is not only cheap but delicious and fast.

We do not get that many food carts around here in Indiana, but it makes up for it with the pop-up food trucks. If you have not tried the Nutella waffle from the Waffle Wagon, you’re missing out.

Everyone should get a chance to travel and explore the authentic food staple of a nation. Street-food is that identify of a nations culture. Food vendors can even be individualistic with their creativity. A fruit vendor in Mexico cut a mango into a shape of a blooming flower. His fast-paced knife skills were something I have never seen before. I was hesitant to eat my mango, for I did not want to ruin such a beautiful cut, but I ate it anyways. For a price of one dollar, I had to give him a good tip.

Whenever I go out of the country or to another state, street-food pops up in my mind. Seeing the colorful food and personal touches from the vendors made me appreciate their existence in a rampant world. Sometimes you just need to slow down and take a delicious bite.

Let me know about your thoughts on Street-food.

  1. Wow, the way you're describing the food is really poetic and beautiful. I appreciate street vendors and their cheap, delicious foods. One of my favorite food trucks is probably Los Primos. They have inexpensive, authentic tacos that absolutely taste amazing.

  2. I hadn't ever eaten off from a food truck until this summer, and now it's something I seek out! When we went to Niagara Falls this summer we couldn't find any restaurants but luckily we found some barbecue food trucks! That memory makes me hold food trucks dear to my heart like it sounds like your memories from Mexico does to you. I'll definitely have to keep my eyes open for some pop-up food trucks in this area!
